Montgomery VP Opening

One of the vice principals at Montgomery was announced as the new principal effective January 1, 2010. Today his current position was posted. I will be applying officially tomorrow.

This will be my second time applying for a VP position at MHS. Last time around - in the spring of 2008 - I did a pretty good job, but I did not meet the particular demographic desired for the job.

This time I do.

Or at least I think I do. The biggest obstacle, in my mind, is the possibility that a current curriculum supervisor may apply for the position. He is certainly qualified and able and would allow the district to fill the position without having to also hire a teacher mid-year to take over a Social Studies classroom. I can certainly see the appeal on their end.

It is likely that there will be another opening towards the end of the school year, but I think that I am an excellent fit for this particular moment. My resume and cover letters are solid and my philosophy is aligned closely to the ideal candidate described in the job posting.

Applications are being accepted until November 16 so I don't expect to hear anything in the immediate future, but the chosen one does take over on January 1 so they will have to move pretty quickly.

Marching band in the rain

My judging for tonight has been cancelled due to the rain so I will be going with the Montgomery band to their standstill performance. Gym shows are very loud but I guess it is good for me to be with them since I usually miss festivals due to judging.
