Intermediate School:
  • Facilitated a Colonial Day planning meeting
Board Office:
  • Facilitated a meeting of the underrepresentation subcommittee of the Gifted and Talented Steering Committee
  • Sent the social studies weekly update
  • Spoke with high school vice principals about a teacher issue
  • Participated in a video chat with the US History II model curriculum writing team
  • Conducted a post-observation conference with an elementary REACH teacher over the phone
  • Worked on the flyer announcing the March 11 parent event

Elementary School:
  • Conducted an observation of a REACH class
Board Office:
  • Followed up on honors placement information
  • Finalized an observation and sent it out
  • Prepared for tomorrow's Colonial Day planning meeting
  • Worked on preparation for March 11 event with outside presenter
  • Drafted the letter to be sent home to all students who are "partially recommended" for honors placement
  • Prepared for tomorrow's Gifted and Talented Steering Committee meeting on underrepresentation

Wednesday, February 20

Board Office:
  • Finalized honors placement decisions, prepared presentation for 8th grade teachers and documents to distribute for recommendations
  • Updated the social studies common assessment spreadsheet
  • Reviewed lesson plans
  • Prepared for tomorrow's 5th grade curriculum integration meeting
  • Sent out various catalogs for teachers to order from
  • Completed reimbursement paperwork for January and February professional development
  • Submitted paperwork to get a raise based on completing 15 graduate credits (as of December)
Middle School:
  • Conducted an observation
  • Met with the 8th grade teachers to share honors placement results
  • Spoke with the principal about a teacher's observation rating and a proposed 8th grade REACH event in May
Board Office:
  • Forwarded staffing information to the database manager
  • Completed additional reimbursement paperwork

Tuesday, February 19

High School:
  • Facilitated post-observation conferences with two teachers
  • Worked on finalizing 8th grade honors placement data
Elementary School:

  • Spoke with a consultant/speaker who we are working on bringing in to do a parent workshop in 2.5 weeks
  • Met with my teacher liaison to discuss various things

  • Spoke with a community member about the requirements for starting a Young Republicans club at the high school
  • Met with the Assistant Superintendent to discuss the union concerns from yesterday

  • Met with the Supervisor of Math to discuss a student who may need acceleration

Tuesday, February 12

Board Office:
  • Prepared for this afternoon's Gifted and Talented Steering Committee identification subcommittee meeting
  • Attended the district leadership team meeting
  • Facilitated the identification subcommittee meeting
  • Met with a high school teacher/union vice president about concerns some teachers have with 1) my expectation that AP US History teachers attend PD this summer (at district expense) in order for them to know the requirements of the updated course and 2) my expectation that the world history teachers fix the problems from the world history exam on their own time.
  • Emailed a high school vice principal to get some release time for teachers to complete their world history exam changes

Monday, February 11

Board Office:
  • Prepared my presentation for tonight's Board of Education meeting
  • Met with the core content area supervisors to discuss a possible revision to REACH
High School:
  • Met with two teachers to discuss their concerns with the world history midterm
Board Office:
  • Spoke with a high school guidance counselor about a new student's schedule
High School:
  • Held a post-observation conference
  • Provided books to a teacher
  • Facilitated a PLC meeting, first with the whole department and then with the world history group to discuss midterms problems in world history and the writing rubric.

  • Followed up with 7th grade teams regarding this morning's meeting
  • Forwarded information to elementary REACH teachers about a Renzulli Learning webinar
  • Sent the weekly update to all social studies teachers
  • Worked on the plan to attend ASCD in Chicago
  • Sent information about AP US History PD opportunities to all HS teachers
  • Prepared for Monday night's Board presentation on the Gifted Education Graduate Certificate program that has now concluded

Thursday, February 7

High School:
  • Conducted an observation
  • Met with a teacher to discuss a new way to handle final exams in an elective course
  • Solved a Renzulli Learning access problem for an elementary REACH teacher
  • Emailed all AP US History teachers about professional development opportunities and expectations
  • Completed state-mandated school ethics paperwork
Middle School:
  • Conducted an observation
Board Office:
  • Approved an elementary school field trip application
  • Input data for honors placement decisions
  • Sent an email to all 4th grade participants in developing a district-wide project
  • Corresponded with an elementary school principal about a social studies meeting with teachers there

  • Met with my teacher liaison to discuss midterm rubrics, midterm exams, and 8th grade honors assessment data
  • Emailed the high school teachers regarding the collection of midterm exam materials
  • Emailed high school world history teachers about their midterm difficulties
Board Office:
  • Prepped for and facilitated a Gifted Education Steering Committee subcommittee meeting on underrepresentation of black, Hispanic, and English Language Learner students
  • Worked on processing information for 8th grade honors placement decisions
  • Reviewed lesson plans

Monday, February 4

Board Office:
  • Wrote up an intermediate school teacher for failing to meet a professional expectation
  • Attending a World Language Task Force meeting
  • Returned a phone call from the parent of a 9th grade student
  • Finalized an observation report
  • Spoke with a high school teacher about the syllabus used on the midterm exam

I left early on 2/4 to go to a wake and was out on 2/5 due to a funeral.
