Winter Wanderland Day 8 - December 31

We slept in the whole morning and then it started snowing so we did not get out to any reception sites like we originally planned. We did set appointments at three of them, listened to some band samples, and even got our first band bids for our event and they are not as expensive as we thought they would be. We think we have narrowed down wedding dates to the weekend of August 7-9, 2009.

Around 2, we left for our exciting New Year's celebration in beautiful Allentown, Pennsylvania. We checked into the Holiday Inn and had to go back to the front desk 3 times just to get a working key, but it turned out to be a great place anyway. After showering and getting ready, we went down to the hotel's lounge to use our 1 free drink coupon and wound up getting a couple free beers and a free cheese quesedilla from a nice bartender.

Thanks to random chance, I saw that there was free shuttle service to nearby places so we had a chauffeur to Crocodile Rock to see Jimmy Norton from the Opie & Anthony show and another free shuttle back later on that night. We had a lot of fun, the comics were great; all in all a worthwhile event.

Back at the hotel, we had about two hours until midnight so we took a short nap and relaxed in the room. Around 11:30, we headed back down to the hotel lounge and our nice, but lonely bartender who provided hats and noisemakers to ring in the New Year with a few others who were at the Norton show too.

We were getting really hungry and no food was available in the hotel, but luckily we were able to order some delivery, which arrived just as we left the lounge. After the midnight snack, it was time to get some sleep.

Happy New Year!
