A Letter from a Group of Parents

This letter was sent to the superintendent by a small group of parents. The related students are all current and former editors of The Devil's Advocate (except one, but that's only because she didn't apply). It reiterates my belief that the students on the newspaper staff are the ones that I've had the most direct impact on (and vice versa...).

As parents of Ridge High School students we have been hoping for news of a positive resolution of the matters relating to the leave of absence taken by Mr. Mingle at the beginning of the school year. Many of us contacted you in September and October to voice our support for Mr. Mingle and we know that you had hoped to resolve this matter fairly quickly. Since that time we have heard little more than the occasional rumor or unconfirmed statement and, therefore, felt it would be appropriate to contact you again at this time to reconfirm our strong support for Mr. Mingle and inquire as to the status of the resolution process.

We recognize that many of the facts relating to this matter have been kept confidential for the benefit of all parties involved. However, in light of the importance of this decision we wanted to let you know that we continue to have a strong interest in seeing this matter resolved favorably for Mr. Mingle. We are also concerned that this matter is still an open issue for him and the Township. It it our sincere hope that Mr. Mingle will be able to return to Ridge High School in the near future.

We would greatly appreciate your contacting JW by phone or e-mail at xxx-xxx-xxxx or x@x.net to give us an update on this matter. Thank you again for your assistance.

Sincerely yours,

(Letter was signed by 7 families)
